This time I came to Guangzhou to participate in the Canton Fair, I specifically chose Guangzhou Shanxi Hotel. As soon as I got off the subway at Sanyuanli Station, I walked for 7 minutes to reach the hotel entrance, without having to drag my suitcase around the alley. As a well-established three-star hotel under the Shanxi Provincial Government's Guangzhou Office, it does not have the fancy decoration of internet famous hotels. After staying for two nights, I found that the comfort and convenience here completely exceeded my expectations.
The front desk staff who checked in had a particularly friendly attitude. When they saw me carrying a bag full of exhibition materials, they took the initiative to help me share the burden. They also reminded me that the hotel has a free Canton Fair shuttle bus, and I can directly follow the bus to the exhibition hall the next morning without having to take a taxi to squeeze traffic. The deluxe king room I stayed in has an area of over 20 square meters and was renovated in 2016. The facilities are maintained exceptionally clean, and there is no common old odor found in old hotels. The wind power of the central air conditioning is soft and even, and you won't feel dry and parched even if you stay up all night in early autumn in Guangzhou. The high-speed WiFi signal is full, and the exhibition plan of several gigabytes is transmitted smoothly without any lag. The independent writing desk by the window is spacious and stable, making it particularly convenient to organize materials after busy work.
What surprised me the most was the hotel's restaurant, which specializes in authentic Shanxi cuisine while also catering to Cantonese and Sichuan cuisine. I got up late on the first morning and went downstairs to have breakfast. For a buffet breakfast of 20 yuan each, I was able to eat authentic Shanxi Daoxiao Noodles, millet porridge and Huaihua steamed buns, together with Cantonese shrimp dumplings and submarine porridge. Both northern and southern flavors were taken into consideration at the same time, so I didn't have to get up early and go far to find food. I didn't want to go out at noon, so I ordered a dish of fried meat and Daoxiao Noodles in the restaurant. The taste was almost the same as what I had in Taiyuan. It was an unexpected surprise to have such authentic Jincai in Guangzhou.
The convenience of the surrounding area has also been fully utilized. The hotel is only a 10 minute drive from Guangzhou Railway Station and Provincial Long distance Bus Station. The New Airport Expressway is just 200 meters away, making the journey to Baiyun Airport smooth without getting stuck in the city. It takes only a few minutes to walk to Meibo City and Baiyun World Leather Goods Center, surrounded by shopping malls, supermarkets, and local food shops. If you want to buy some souvenirs or have a late night snack, just take a few steps outside. The hotel has a free large parking lot with dedicated personnel to guide parking. Friends who drive to Guangzhou don't have to worry about finding a parking space at all. The business center, ticketing services, and multi specification meeting rooms are all available. If you need to print materials or hold small meetings, you can easily get everything done downstairs.
The biggest feeling after staying for two nights is that this old hotel, which has been open for decades, has achieved the ultimate goal of "worry free" for business travel. There is no extra premium, but the core needs of transportation, catering, and services are all arranged in a thoughtful manner. Whether it is attending exhibitions, business trips, or short trips to Guangzhou to find a cost-effective destination, Guangzhou Shanxi Hotel is the right choice.
